Physicists explain how the mind might link with the quantum realm. After performing an experiment in a lab to see if it is possible to measure what goes on in the minds of other people while they are awake, as it is done for the EEG reading. What they found is that while a person is awake their minds are in a state of near-natural waking paralysis, where they are not fully aware of what is going on around them.

In this condition, their brains continue to respond to stimuli, even though their eyes are closed. The challenge for the scientists was to find out whether or not the brain is able to control itself while the eyes are closed. Apparently they succeeded in this task and in doing so laid a ground breaking experiment. Showing that when the brain is asleep, it can actually control the activity of nerve cells in a certain area of the visual cortex. The result?

How a Parasitic Fungus Turns Ants Into Zombies

How a parasitic fungus turns ants into zombies can be explained by looking at the reproductive behavior of this particular fungus. The name for the fungus in nature is Microsporum and it normally occurs on plants as either a fungus or mold. As an organism, the fungus is a single-celled organism and it cannot reproduce by division. It must reproduce by means of division and that is what happens when it infects its host cells. The disease causing Microsporum fungus takes over the living tissue present in the case of the infected animal or human.

There are many species of fungi that cause infection and they usually occur naturally on plants. If you have ever noticed spots of mold growing around your house or on your garage floor, you probably are dealing with one of these natural species. Most of the time you will not even know that you have been infected with any kind of fungal infection until you notice that the ants are dying. When you look closer, you will see that the fungal infection has made the infected areas really ugly and they look like they are ready to collapse.

There have been recent efforts by various teams of researchers to find out how many of the thousands of prehistoric and ancient organisms are still alive today. The subject of their research varies greatly, from analyzing tooth enamel from fossil teeth, to analyzing proteins from specimens as old as 40 million years old. While a lot of progress has been made lately with respect to how we look for, and find, fossils, and with the ability of computers to store and retrieve vast amounts of information, there is still a long way to go when it comes to discovering the actual survival rate of these organisms.

One of the teams that has been researching this question, and attempting to use modern technology, is the Museum of palaeontology at London’s Natural History Museum. Their recent press release states: “We’ve discovered an astonishing array of fossils in two types of rocks. The fossils were previously thought to be beyond recognition. They reveal a previously unknown planet in our Solar System which has oceans, rivers and seas – as well as dinosaurs.”

What Is the Human Body Shaped by Climate?

Ever since humans have been on this earth, climate changes have helped them adapt to the changing temperatures and weather conditions that they are exposed to. The basic function of the body is to keep it insulated against external temperature and environmental changes such as these. As temperatures change and climate changes, the body also changes to suit the new environment.

There is always an effect on the human body when changes in temperature and climate occur. Human body adapted to cold climates thousands of years back and it still adapting to extreme heat and cold conditions. In most cases, human bodies are more sensitive to temperature and environmental changes than animals. This is one of the reasons why animals are able to survive in extremely cold and extreme heat climates with no problems at all. Humans are not that lucky.
